To apply for the COPS Office School Violence Prevention Program (SVPP), applicants must first register in SAM.gov and Grants.gov, then complete and submit the application in two steps: submitting an SF-424 in Grants.gov by June 18, 2025, and completing the full application, including survey questions and attachments, in JustGrants by June 26, 2025.

Provides funding directly to states, units of local government, Indian tribes, and public agencies (school districts, public boards of education, police departments, and sheriffs’ departments) to improve security at schools and on school grounds in the grantees’ jurisdictions through evidence-based school safety programs and technology.
COPS Office – School Violence Prevention Program (SVPP)
Purpose:
To improve security at schools and on school grounds through evidence-based school safety programs and physical security enhancements, in coordination with local law enforcement.
Allowable Uses of SVPP Grant Funds
1. Coordination with Local Law Enforcement

Develop and implement partnerships between schools and local police departments.

Support for joint security planning and emergency response coordination.

Improve communication infrastructure between schools and law enforcement.
2. Training for Law Enforcement

Training law enforcement officers in school-specific environments.

Violence prevention strategies and early intervention.

De-escalation and behavioral threat assessment techniques.
3. Physical Security Enhancements
A. Target Hardening

Installation of metal detectors.

Upgrades to door and window locks.

Improved exterior/interior lighting.

B. Emergency Notification Systems

Automated alert systems for staff and students.

Panic alarms placed strategically throughout the campus.

C. Entry Control Systems
